Speaking with JRDN was easy. He gives you his full attention and listening to his voice draws you in even when he isn’t singing. This R&B Canadian artist is a great addition to the multi-faceted musical tapestry of the Great White North.

JRDN moved to Toronto when he was 11 years old and lived in the same apartment building as King Lou from the Canadian hip-hop duo, Dream Warriors. This experience would turn out to be the one that sent him on his musical path and, ultimately, his dual nomination this year.

“King Lou was definitely a huge influence on me [growing up,]” JRDN said. “He used to teach me how to break dance and all the guys use to hang out in the lobby. That’s how I was introduced to the whole hip-hop culture and I fell in love with it right away. Just watching him progress as an artist and be successful with the project that they had was an inspiration in itself.”
